Once completed, the New Windsor Shop will perch on the upper hillside overlooking the central green of the park.  I've walked that hill so much, I've worn ruts in the land trying to figure out where the Shop should sit, envisioning what it will be like, and daydreaming about all the adventure that will be enjoyed within the walls of this place.

This week, we took the first tangible steps towards construction - we set stakes on the hillside to layout where the Shop will sit.

This is a shot of Mike Gibson driving in the first stake. Mike is the Gate Keeper at the park and does a tremendous amount to contribute to the daily running of the park.

Lynn Thompson and I are laying out the lower wall of the wareroom. Lynn is the President of the Olde Towne Preservation Association. No one has done more over the past 20 years to promote, grow, and develop the park. She has been very supportive and encouraging over the past two years as plans for the Shop have evolved.

Here I am explaining to my wife, Joanne, the location of the wood stove and more importantly the place where she will oversee all that transpires within the Shop. Trust me, she runs a tight ship!

Ahhhhh... one of the most beautiful views in the country... truly sacred ground.

Once the stakes were set, Mike found some string and flagging in the Livery to finish the job.  I walked around within the boundary we had established as though the floor was down, the walls were up, and roof was above my head... lets see... 243 days and counting, October will be here before we know it... All of a sudden, this is becoming very real.
